Southerners currently living in the North have been given a
2-week ultimatum to relocate to their respective states to
make room for northerners who would be returning home.
This ultimatum was given by a group of Northern youths
under the aegis of Arewa Youth Development Foundation.
According to Tribune report, this directive was contained in
a statement read and jointly signed by the group's national
president, Mr Aliyu Usman and its secretary, Comrade
Alfred Solomon, during a visit by the group to the Emir of
Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sunusi II, in his palace.
Citing instances like the arrest of all imams of Juma'at
mosques in Abia State, the arrest of northern traders, the
happenings at the national confab, among others issues,
the group described the recent clampdown on Northerners
in the name of Boko Haram, as regrettable.

FIFA BAN: Nigeria Versus Benin Republic Match Called Off
An international friendly match involving Nigerian club,
Sunshine Stars and Benin Republic scheduled to take place
in Cotonou has been called off following a FIFA suspension
on Nigeria.
According to a Benin FA official while speaking to
AfricanFootball.com: "The match did not take place as
planned because of the FIFA ban on Nigeria, which forbids
any international football contact with Nigeria."
It was gathered that Nigeria's Sunshine Stars are expected
back in the country by the weekend after being in Cotonou
for several days.
Benin had planned to use the called off match to prepare
for a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi
holding in Cotonou on Sunday.
It could be recalled that the world football governing body
decided to ban Nigeria from all football related activities
after a court that sat in Jos, Plateau State ordered the
removal of president of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF,
Aminu Maigari over alleged financial misconduct.
FIFA had given Nigeria till Thursday to quash the court
ruling and reinstate the NFF board.
According to FIFA statement, If Nigeria failed to do so, the
country will be replaced at the FIFA U20 World Cup in
Canada.
The Nigerian team, popularly called the Falconets, had
been prevented from travelling to Canada for training tour.
* NFF's president, Maigari
Also, the country's U-17 team are also due to take on their
DR Congo counterparts on Sunday in a qualifying match
billed for Kinshasa.
Sportsplata.com reports that FIFA ban on Nigeria has
already caused former FIFA referee Linus Mba a CAF
appointment for this weekend.

Amazing Things About Being Married
While many dread the lifelong commitment that comes with
marriage, many have affirmed positively to the conjugal
bliss which most times make you 'feel fly', especially when
it is new and true.
Although characterized with a few ups and downs, there
are lots of great reasons why you should get married. Here
are 8 reasons why being married is great!
1. You can say whatever's on your mind without fear of
scaring him or her off.
Considering how people feel about you when you talk to
them about issues can be quite alarming, in marriage, you
do not have to bother your head about what your spouse
thinks when you talk. Once you're married, you can text,
call, e-mail, G-chat, and send flowers to the office every
day without fear of coming on too strong and even if your
spouse perceives it as strong, there is always room for
explanations without feeling terrible.
Related: An old Oklahoma couple stayed true to the "until
death do us part" commitment by dying together.
2. You'll have someone to take care of you "in sickness."
There is nothing worse than not having anyone around you
when you are under the weather. Having someone that can
help out with going to the drugstore, getting lozenges,
making chicken soup and so on is really a blessing when
one is down. You will agree with me on this only if you have
been sick without anyone close to you to help.
3. You'll have a permanent sing-along, dance-along, and
adventure-along buddy.
Because being married entails marrying your best friend,
there is absolutely gonna be a great display when you both
are indoor all alone and even with friends, not giving
pretense any chance. Being married allows you to have
someone you will laugh with at the silliest jokes, dance and
sing in the car with, or at least someone to lovingly roll their
eyes at you when you're feeling punchy.
4. You'll have a cheerleader and a partner in crime.
Have you ever seen a man that rushes home from work just
to meet his "troublesome", naughty and beautiful wife? It is
because he sees in the woman a partner in crime, a person
that makes home to be fun for him not a grudgingly cold
woman that nags. Here, note that your spouse is your
number one fan!
5. Legal rights.
Married people have the right to visit each other in the
hospital, make informed decisions about each other's lives,
share health insurance and file taxes together. There are
huge benefits associated with these rights (which is one of
the reasons all couples should have access to legal
marriage).
6. Shared financial goals.
Do you know what it means to have two salaries in one
pocket? It's more money! Which means both of you can put
your earnings together and achieve shared goals, like
moving into a bigger place or taking a vacation, which is a
lot more fun than splitting up the bills with a roommate.
7. You'll have a lifelong cuddle buddy/sex partner.
You might not feel like newlyweds forever, but you'll always
have a partner who knows your likes, dislikes, when you
need a cuddle and what makes your body tick.
8. Spousal telepathy.
Give your spouse "the look" and he or she will
automatically know it's time to eat, get serious, or get out of
this party.

How to Use Your Android Phone as a Modem; No Rooting Required, Redux
How to Use Your Android Phone as a Modem; No Rooting Required, Redux

Last year we showed you how to tether your Android phone to your computer, no rooting required. The only catch was that it cost $16—now we’re back with a just as simple but free-as-in-beer solution.
Our original guide was inspired by a reader email, asking us to help configure their Android phone and laptop for tethered browsing, and detailed how to use the robust PDAnet to tether. This guide is inspired by the recent release of Tether, a free application from Koushik Dutta, the brains behind the awesome ClockworkMod package for Android. Read on as we show you how to use ClockwordMod Tether.
One word of warning before we continue; although we found Tether to be a perfectly acceptable alternative to PDAnet, it is still an Alpha release. If you’re worried about hiccups or downtime (and your job depends on you having face and reliable internet access) we’d highly suggest reading our original guide focused on PDAnet as PDAnet is a mature and well tested tethering tool.
What You’ll Need
Accept for a quick download, you should have everything you need on hand already. For this tutorial you’ll need the following items:- Your Android Phone
- Your laptop, netbook, or desktop computer
- A USB sync cable for your Android phone
- A copy of Clockwork Mod Tether Alpha (Available for Windows/Mac/Linux)
Installing Tether

After downloading the installation app, launch it. Although you won’t have to do anything too fancy to install tether you will need to approve a variety of system changes—the warnings look serious but that’s just because Windows Vista/7 is particularly aggressive about warning users.
Click through the installation process, about halfway through a command prompt window will pop up and the installation process will prompt you to approve the installation of an unsigned driver. Approve it.

At the end of the installation process Tether will launch your default web browser and direct it to Tether Drivers sub-page of the ClockworkMod site. If you already have the most up-to-date USB drivers for your particular Android phone, you can skip this step. For everyone else, take a moment to grab drivers for your phone. Don’t see your phone listed? You can always check out the driver list provided by Google here. At any rate, you’ll need to make sure your drivers are up to date before continuing.
If you’ve previously used PDAnet on your computer (whether the trial or the full package) you’ll need to uninstall it before continuing. Tether will not work if PDAnet is installed. Once your drivers are up to date and you’ve confirmed PDAnet is uninstalled, it’s time to fire up Tether.

When you first run it there isn’t much going on, it simply sits by idle waiting for you to start the process. Now is the time to plug in your Android phone’s sync cable and tether the phone to your computer. You’ll need to have Debug mode enabled. Take a moment to navigate, on your Android phone, to Settings > Applications > Development and check USB Debugging. Once you’ve confirmed debugging is on and your phone is connected, click Start in the Tether interface on your computer.
Tether should spring to life; don’t worry too much about the output whirling by in the Tether Log window. Tether will automatically install the Tether application on your Android phone (if it doesn’t you can find it in the \ClockworkMod\Tether\Common\ folder and install it manually).
At this point the USB logo on both the Tether desktop app and the Tether Android app should be green like so:

And that’s it! You’re connected to the internet via your Android phone. No more hunting for Wi-Fi nodes, you’ve got a easy to use tether right in your pocket.
Troubleshooting Your Tether Installation
Although we had a painless Tether installation, it’s still an Alpha release app. We’ve rounded up some solutions to common problems here.First, when in doubt, restart both your computer and phone. Second, use the task manager to kill all instances of tether.exe and node.exe before restarting the tether.exe—some users report that the first time they run Tether it doesn’t work but after killing the process and starting it again everything is fine.
Getting a DUN Null error? Make sure you’ve uninstalled PDAnet—double check even if you think it’s not installed, maybe you tested it out years ago and forgot.
Connection hangs between phone and computer? Make sure your USB drivers are up to date. It’s possible to have just-good-enough older drivers that get the phone and computer talking but fail to completely connect the two together.
Installation failed? Run it again as administrator and make sure to approve the driver requests it makes.
How To Backup and Restore Your Android Phone with Titanium Backup
How To Backup and Restore Your Android Phone with Titanium Backup

If you want to get serious about backing up your Android phone, including everything from system app data to saved Wi-Fi nodes, Titanium Backup can help. Read on to learn how to backup your Android phone from A to Z.
Why Bother With a Third Party Backup Application?
Android phones already come with some handy backup features; anyone who has purchased a new Android phone and plugged in the Google Account login they were using on their previous Android phone has surely been impressed with the ease in which their old contacts appeared. Newer versions of Android (2.2+) even have some extra backup features like the ability to backup your wallpaper and some applications (if the developer allows it). While that’s great and certainly eleventy-billion times better than dealing with transferring contacts from phone to phone in the age of “dumb phones” it’s not a perfect or complete solution. If you want fine control over your backup process and the ability to backup every application and its associated data, system settings, and more, you’re going to need to rely on a third-party solution. In this tutorial we’ll show you how to backup all data with the powerful and popular Android backup app Titanium Backup.
What You’ll Need
For this tutorial you’ll only need two things- A rooted Android phone
- A copy of Titanium Backup
Phone-by-phone rooting instructions are beyond the scope of this tutorial but don’t worry. If your phone isn’t rooted already there are some excellent resources available to help you root. One of the best resources around is the XDA Development forums. Search for your specific phone/carrier for detailed guides on how to root your device. In the process you’ll learn more about your phone than you ever thought possible. Avoid simply searching Google for a rooting guide as many guides are outdated and will lead to big headaches—XDA’s forum posts and guides are frequently updated and it’s easy to make sure you’re looking at a current version.
Finally, a word on Titanium Backup. It comes in two flavors: free and premium ($6.56). We’ll be using the free version for this tutorial; it’s a more than adequate program loaded with great features. The premium version adds in some additional features power users may find useful like versioned backup, backup encryption, unlimited backup scheduling, and such. You can compare the free and premium features here.
Installing Titanium Backup

If your phone is rooted and Superuser is installed, installing Titanium Backup is a breeze. If you’ve skipped the rooting process and/or installing Superuser, jump back to the previous section and check out the XDA forum to read more about your device. If you’ve done the prep work grab a copy of Titanium Backup from the Android Market and install it.

There’s only two things you really need to pay attention to during the installation process to make sure your future Titanium Backup use goes smoothly. First, you’ll get an initial prompt to elevate Titanium Backup’s user privileges. If you’re going to be using the schedule feature for automated backups (and you should be using that feature) you’ll want to check the Remember box here so that Titanium Backup doesn’t need your attention every time it goes to backup. Second, if you haven’t enabled installation of application files from unknown sources (which Titanium Backup needs in order to restore your apps from backup later) make sure to enable it.
Now that Titanium Backup in installed a small caution is in order. Do not just start clicking willy nilly around menus. Titanium Backup is a powerful application designed for power users. Unlike nearly every other application on your phone where it’s hard to even make an error let alone a really serious one, Titanium Backup gives you direct access to your system in a way that makes it significantly easier to send a wrecking ball through the guts of your phone. Read every item twice before clicking it and when you have even the slightest bit of doubt about what a function does, refer to the detailed Titanium Backup wiki for clarification before proceeding.
Performing Your First Backup

Once Titanium Backup in installed and you’ve repeated “I will not click on buttons that perform unfamiliar tasks!” three times, you’re ready for your first backup. Click on the Backup/Restore tab. Click the Menu button on your phone. From the menu that pops up at the bottom of the screen select Batch. From the large Batch menu select [RUN] Backup all user apps + system data. You can opt to only backup user apps or system data by themselves, but we installed Titanium Backup so we could do fast and total backups of our entire system and we suggest you do the same—it’s no fun to find out one data catastrophe too late that the thing you really wanted backed up wasn’t.

Once you select your backup roster, you’ll be prompted one more time. Titanium Backup wants to know if you want to kill the active apps or exclude them. You can also choose not to include certain applications in the backup. Since we have nothing pressing going on in any of our active applications we opted to Kill active apps and left all applications checked. Comprehensive backup is where it’s at. When you’re done with the batch selection menu click Run the batch operation.
Depending on the processing power of your phone and the number of applications you have installed the initial backup process can take anywhere between a minute or two to a quarter hour or more. Plug your phone in to charge and leave it be until it’s done. When’s complete you’ll see the Backup/Restore menu again. Now instead of a bunch of caution triangles beside each application (the not-backed up indicator) you’ll see a variety of smiley faces and check marks. If you’re curious what each smiley face and other marks means, click the Menu button and then click Legend to get a run down. If you see all red/M, yellow/M smileys, and check marks, everything was backed up as intended. If you see caution triangles mixed in there it’s time to run the batch again—unless the missing backups are the apps you didn’t want to kill and/or excluded from the batch list.

If everything looks good, what now? Navigate to /TitaniumBackup/ on your SD card; there you’ll find all your backups. Copy the entire directory to your computer for safekeeping, sync it to your cloud storage, or otherwise back it up. Titanium Backup is only worth as much as the backups you keep. No backups after a catastrophic data lose (that may or may not have taken your SD card with it), no restoration points to work with.
That’s it! Your first backup is complete! From here you can Schedules tab and schedule a weekly backup (upgrade to Pro to enjoy a more flexible and unlimited scheduling system). You can also tap on an individual app in the Backup/Restore list at any time to perform an immediate and one-off backup.
Restoring a Backup

When it comes time to restore there are several options. Just like you can batch backup everything on your phone you can also batch restore everything. Navigate to the batch menu you as you did above by going to Menu-> Batch while on the Backup/Restore screen. Scroll down until you see the Restore subheading. There you can select the option that suits your batch restoration needs just as you did for your batch backup needs—see the first two panels of the above image.
A less drastic approach, let’s say you just want to restore your Angry Birds unlocked levels that have gone missing in action, is to tap on an individual application in the Backup/Restore list and click Restore—see the last panel above the above image.
In 99% of the situations restoration is a snap. For the more complicated restoration procedures like restoring data when you’ve updated your phone with a custom ROM or migrated to a new phone make sure to check out the Titanium Backup wiki for pointers.
How To Block Web Sites at the Router Level for Network Wide Filtering
How To Block Web Sites at the Router Level for Network Wide Filtering

A comprehensive network filtering system is overkill if all you want to do is block a handful of web sites. Read on as we show you how—with nothing more than your router—you can selectively block and temporarily restrict individual websites.
For many people a massive commercial internet filter is overkill. What if you just want to block Facebook when your kids are supposed to be doing their homework or Reddit when you’re supposed to be getting work done? You don’t need a huge system for that, all you need is the access restrictions module in your router. Today we’re looking at how you can quickly and easily block traffic on your network using router-based access restrictions.
What You’ll Need

For this tutorial you’ll won’t need much and you won’t have to spend a dime. Before proceed make sure you have the following things:
- A Tomato compatible router
- A copy of Tomato on the router
- Administrative access to the router
Setting Up URL Filters in Tomato

For our example we’re going to setup both a total ban and a time-based ban on the social news site Reddit. Reddit fans among us will attest to the fact that the site, as fun as it can be, is an enormous time sink and a great productivity killer. First let’s take a look at the Access Restriction module in Tomato. Navigate to your router control panel, typically an address like http://192.168.1.1 and plug in your credentials. Once you’re in the main panel navigate to Access Restriction in the left hand menu—seen above. Click on it to enter the sub-menu. If you’ve never used the feature before all you’ll see in the Access Restriction Overview section is a disabled example entry like so:

Just beneath the example entry, to the right, is the Add button. Click that now to create your first entry.
For our first entry we’re going to make a filter, called Reddit Killer, which blocks Reddit all day, every day. Change the description name from New Rule to Reddit Killer, check All Day and Everyday, leave Applies to as All Computers/Devices, and then uncheck Block All Internet Access—if you don’t check this part, you won’t be able to specify what exactly you want to block. It should look like this:

When you unchecked Block All Internet Access, an entire new portion of the menu unfolded beneath the initial entry. Within this portion of the menu is where we’re going to specify the sites we want to block.
Leave the Port/Applications section alone (these settings allow you to get more granular control over your filters such as filtering only BitTorrent or a specific port). In the HTTP Request section enter reddit.com and then, at the bottom right corner, click Save.

Back at the main screen you should see the new filter, Reddit Killer, with it’s rather encompassing “Everyday” schedule. Let’s take a look at Reddit and see if our filter is active:

Reddit is down? Well then. We’d better get back to work. Our filter is great success.
If you’re not quite ready for a full Reddit fast but you’d like to at least keep it shut off while you’re trying to focus on work, you can easily modify the scheduling component to, say, restrict access between 8AM and 5PM on the weekdays. Let’s click on Reddit Killer now so we can edit it.

Uncheck All Day and Everyday, then in the new options which have appeared, select 08:00-17:00 and Monday through Friday. While we’re at it, let’s update the Description to better reflect the purpose of the filter. Since we’re restricting access to the evenings, we’ll call our new filter Reddit Tonight.
To register the changes, click save down in the lower right corner. If you wish to further massage the settings (such as applying the restrictions to only certain computers) you can pull down the Applies To menu and create white/black lists of computers that are restricted or unrestricted. You can also easily expand your filter by adding new lines into the HTTP request box. Instead of just a Reddit Killer it could be expanded to include all the web sites you routine kill time on (Reddit, Facebook, Fark, and so on). In addition to filtering web sites you can also set up keyword filters. In short, if it’s travelling through your network you can find a way to filter it in the Access Restrictions menu.
How To Backup Your Text Messages to Your Gmail Account
How To Backup Your Text Messages to Your Gmail Account

Backing up your text messages from your Android phone to your Gmail account is so simple there’s no reason to not back them up and make them search-friendly in the process. Read on to see how you can turn your Gmail account into an SMS vault.
What Do I Need?
It’s easy to lose your text messages. Everything from switching phones to fumble fingers can drop your messages in front of the digital reaper—just last night I managed to accidently delete a massive SMS thread when I really only intended to delete a single message that refused to send.Backing up your SMS messages to your Gmail account is so simple, however, there’s no good reason not to do it. For this tutorial you’ll need three things:
- Your Android phone
- A free copy of SMS Backup+
- A Gmail account
Note: Technically, you can dig around the advanced settings of SMS Backup+ to reconfigure it to work with any IMAP-enabled email server. However, since it was designed to work with Gmail and works so well with Gmail’s search, threading, and starring functionality, we’re not going to mess with a good thing.
Configuring Your Gmail Account for IMAP Access
Login to your Gmail account and navigate to Settings –> Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Check Enable IMAP. Scroll down and click Save Changes. That’s the only configuration you’ll need to do within your Gmail account.
Installing and Configuring SMS Backup+

The first step is to set up the connection to your Gmail account. Tap Connect. The default browser on your Android phone will launch and you’ll be prompted to login to the Gmail account you want to use for backing up your messages. After you login you’ll need to authorize SMS Backup+ to utilize your Google account like so:

Click Grant Access. You’ll be prompted to begin a backup immediately or skip the initial backup:

Click Backup; we didn’t come all this way not to back things up! If you hit Skip then all the messages on your phone will be flagged as already backed up and will be ignored.
The backup process will start, and depending on how many messages you have, will take anywhere from a minute to a half hour to complete. It clips along at about a message per second:

You don’t even have to wait until the process is finished to jump over to the Gmail account and check the progress. Login to your Gmail account from a web browser. You’ll see a new label in the sidebar, SMS. Click on it:

Success! SMS Backup+ automatically backs up your SMS messages as well as your MMS messages. Not only are all of our text messages there but the pictures we’ve sent back and forth are backup up to Gmail along with the messages. Now that we’ve got everything humming along, let’s look at some advanced options.
Advanced SMS Backup+ Configuration

After you’ve set up the automatic backup, return to the main screen and head into Advanced settings. There you can change the settings for backing up, restoring, and notifications. Under Backup there are some useful settings you may wish to toggle include turning off MMS backup (again, to save on data consumption, and creating a whitelist of contacts you want backed up (instead of the default where every single message is backed up).
There isn’t much to look at under the Restore settings, but you can take advantage of a handy Gmail-centric trick. When SMS Backup+ stores your messages in Gmail it creates a thread for each contact. You can tell SMS Backup+ to only restore the contacts with starred threads which allows you to quickly select which conversations are important enough to restore via the star system in Gmail.
So there you have it! All your text messages (including multimedia attachments) are backed up within Gmail where you can easily search them and restore them to your handset should the need arise.
