Bangalore: The Bangalore Police on Tuesday two gym instructors in the rape case of a six-year-old student in the school premises. The police has ruled out the involvement of the skating instructor Mustafa, who was arrested in the case.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Abhishek Goel said that the investigation has not yet finished.
He said, "The case has been solved in terms of identifying culprits. Two persons, Lalgiri and Wasim Pasha, both gym teachers, have been arrested."
Goel added, "The child was not in the dark room as suspected earlier when crime happened but it happened in the premises."
The duo have been booked under Section 376 D of IPC Section 4 and 5 of POSCO (Protection of Child from Sexual Offences) Act.
The school was re-opened on Monday for classes 5 to 12 and it would be re-open for classes 1 to 4 on Wednesday. The school management has assured parents that it will meet their demands for round the clock security.
The city had witnessed widespread protests after the student was raped in the school premises on July 2. After the outrage over the incident, the parents demanded the school management follow security guidelines.
The school has taken steps like installing 76 additional CCTV cameras, raising the height of the compound wall and doing background checks of the staff. The state government and Bangalore Police have issued similar orders to all schools in the city.
Earlier, School chairperson Rustom Kerawalla was arrested, but was given a conditional bail on a surety of Rs 25,000.
